HAIR EXTENSIONS FOR THIN HAIR

Hair extensions are the great way which gives instant length and volume to one's hair. I frequently come through a question that which extension is best for thin or fine hair. Machine or hand – tied wefts are more popular and good for African American and Latino women as their hair is strong enough for braids and having extensions sewn on. However, most Caucasian women whose hair side are on the thinner side and are very fine, this method will actually do more harm than good. So the best option is Tape in extensions. We will study some extensions and find that why tape in is best for thin hair.

Tape extensions: They are a newer type of technology where the hair is mounted on wefts with a special type of adhesive pre-applied to the underside. The best for women with thin or fine hair. The tape extensions are bonded to natural hair with tape and are almost 1.5” wide wefts applied row by row. The benefit of this type of extension is that the single method application can be used. Instead of bonding two tape weft hair extensions, together with a normal tape application, one tape weft extension is placed on the hair and the other side is sealed with a single-sided piece of tape. This is the best solution for thin hair. It provides long wear without any damage to thin hair. Tape - in extensions require no tools or chemicals.

Clip in hair extensions: They are temporary extensions with the option to take them out as often as preferred. It will not hold well thin hair due to the weight of the clips. The clip in hair extensions will not hold with thin hair as the weight of each weft is really heavy and they tend to slide out, especially if they are needed every day. Damage could be caused by the clips putting the strain on the thin hair causing bald spots on the head.

Fusion hair extensions: They have keratin bonding on the ends and ultrasonic waves soften the keratin to bond during application. These types of hair extensions are rather costly and the installation process is lengthy. The removal process is complicated and can pull out more hair in the long run. The fusion method pulls out more hair and does not hold well one fine hair. Not a good option for women with thin hair.

Micro links hair extensions: They are applied strand by strand to hair with a special tool to attach each hair extension to natural hair. The links are similar to a screw which can damage hair shaft when clamped together. The weight of each strand tugs and pulls and will ruin thin hair in the long run.

Braided Weft hair extensions:They are sewn into the natural hair which is braided to cover the whole head and the wefts of hair are sewn into the braided rows. Those with thin hair usually do not have enough hair to make the small braid to hold the hair extension.

So in the end, I will like to conclude that it is important to consider how much weight, stress, and tension is placed on natural hair by the hair extensions. For fine or thin hair, we should look for the lightest density for hair extensions. With tape in hair extensions, the extensions are lightweight and require no glue, tools or fusion type of bond to stay in hair. With the single method application, the extension is bonded with a piece of tape rather than sandwiching two extensions together. By doing so, the weight is reduced by half which is best for causing the least strain and negligible damage to thin hair.
